Steve Maher is a visual and relational artist from Ireland based in Helsinki. He is an independent researcher, writer, Inventor, Tolkien scholar, curator and artist. At the core of his practice is the exploration of cultural artefacts and rituals as well as language and technology. Maher is the inaugural winner of the Kierran Meagher legacy award, from Limerick city of culture 2014. Maher has represented both Ireland and Finland at International Biennials, including the Moscow Biennale for Young Art V 2016 and STRP Biënnale 2017. His project Heavy Metal Detector has toured extensively, among others at Abandon Normal Devices 2017.
